Community voice matters!

Join 3VCF, Embarcadero Media Foundation and others who are committed to nurturing local journalism as a valued community asset, for a special screening of the award-winning documentary, Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink and a conversation afterward on the state of journalism with filmmaker and director Rick Goldsmith, California State Senator Steve Glazer, and local journalist and former Tri-Valley Herald Publisher Tim Hunt, moderated by Embarcadero Media East Bay President and Publisher Gina Channell Wilcox.
 
 
Local journalism throughout America is facing a financial crisis due to the collapse of its ad-supported business model. And while local newspapers seek grassroots public support to survive, hedge funds have quietly seized on the opportunity to buy up news organizations across the country, decimate their staffs, destroy their independence and deprive local readers of a critical tool supporting democracy.

Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink exposes the battle between hedge funds and local community leaders for control over their local news and the future of journalism. 

Join 3VCF, Embarcadero Media Foundation and community leaders who are committed to preserving  and re-investing in local journalism. Together, we are part of a growing movement to revitalize the essential civic infrastructure of local media.
