LARPD Awarded $234K Cybersecurity Grant
The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) has been awarded a $234,030 grant through the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP), administered by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES). This funding will bolster LARPD’s cybersecurity and technological infrastructure and support ongoing efforts to maintain a secure and resilient technology environment.
The SLCGP provides funding to state, local, and territorial governments to manage and reduce systemic cyber risks. By strengthening critical infrastructure and improving the resilience of public services, the program ensures that organizations like LARPD can continue delivering essential resources while safeguarding against modern cybersecurity threats.
LARPD plans to use the grant to improve network connectivity, enhance data backup systems, modernize software, and elevate cybersecurity capabilities. These initiatives are designed to ensure the LARPD’s technology infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and capable of supporting its diverse programs and services.
“This grant is a significant step forward for LARPD, allowing us to strengthen our cybersecurity measures and modernize our technology,” said David Weisgerber, Community Outreach Supervisor. “These improvements go beyond protecting our systems—they help us provide better, more reliable services to our community. By investing in our infrastructure, we’re ensuring that LARPD can continue to meet the needs of Livermore area residents today and into the future.”
With these upgrades, LARPD will enhance operational efficiency, protect sensitive data, and ensure service continuity. The District is grateful to CalOES for this opportunity and looks forward to sharing the impact of these improvements in the coming months.
