LARPD Completes Playground Upgrades at Mocho and Tex Spruiell Parks
Livermore, CA – September 5, 2025 – The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) has completed playground upgrades at Mocho Park and Tex Spruiell Park, adding new, modern play equipment as part of its ongoing Playground Replacement Program.
The new playground at Mocho Park was completed in June, and the Tex Spruiell Park upgrade wrapped up in August, continuing steady progress on LARPD’s long-term playground improvement goals.
The program, launched to address aging infrastructure and deferred maintenance, focuses on replacing two playgrounds each year using funds from LARPD’s facility maintenance reserve. Each project typically takes 3–6 weeks to complete and is designed to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall play experience for local families.
“These improvements are part of our commitment to maintaining high-quality neighborhood parks across the District,” said Mathew Fuzie, LARPD General Manager. “We’re upgrading our facilities in a phased, responsible way to ensure they continue serving the community well into the future.”
To date, five playgrounds have been completed under the program, including earlier upgrades at Jack Williams, Bill Clark, and Ida Holm Parks. Looking ahead, the next two parks on the replacement list are Lester J. Knott Park and El Padro Park. Replacement schedule is subject to change based on available funding and playground conditions.
