Description
Join us on Thursday, October 5, 2023 for TVNPA’s Anti-Poverty Collaborative event, “Bridging the Gap.”
“Bridging the Gap” is more than just an event; it’s a critical effort to confront and address the community’s multifaceted challenges surrounding poverty, healthcare, education, affordable housing, food security, and economic justice.
- Star-Studded Panel: We are honored to have Dr. Tiana Moore, Policy Director of the Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative; Jim Pugh, co-founder of the Universal Income Project; and Dr. Larissa Estes White, Executive Director of the Racial Equity Commission with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research. They will bring their in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience to enlighten us on combating poverty and inequity.
- Interactive Discussion: Sheila Burks, Manager of Equity and Inclusion for the Alameda County Community Food Bank, will skillfully moderate a captivating panel discussion on these urgent topics.
- Latest Updates and Breakthroughs: The program will include updates from TVNPA’s recently revised Data Profile: Just Getting by in the Tri-Valley. Additionally, Dr. Moore will share insights from her co-authored study, The California Statewide Study of People Experiencing Homelessness. Jim Pugh will discuss recent success stories from Bay Area basic income projects, and Dr. White will share her viewpoints on the significance of capacity building and policy change in support of nonprofits as a health equity and anti-poverty strategy.
Share this invitation to anyone interested including media, legislators, businesses, nonprofits, and individual change-makers who aim to understand these issues better and take active steps to make a difference in the Tri-Valley community.
