Who should get prostate cancer screening?
The prostate is small gland that people assigned male at birth have near their bladders. Men ages 45+ should get a prostate cancer screening. If you are high risk, you should begin getting screened at age 40.
What happens at the screening?
This screening event is part of a special study and you'll start by signing a consent form. There are two parts to the screening and you must do both parts. The first is a digital rectal exam. The doctor will feel for any abnormalities in the prostate. The second part is a blood test, which will test for the level of a prostate-specific antigen in your blood. We will send the blood test to a lab and contact you when we have your results.
