Las Positas College to Celebrate 35thg Annual Commencement Ceremony

(Livermore, Calif., May 23, 2025) - Las Positas College (LPC) will honor the Class of 2025 at its 35th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 30. The college will host two ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., both held at the Physical Education Complex, Building 2500, on the LPC campus (3000 Campus Hill Drive, Livermore, CA 94551).

This year’s graduation marks a significant milestone for more than 1,824 students earning associate degrees and 387 students earning certificates of achievement. For many, it represents the start of a new chapter—whether transferring to a four-year university, launching a new career, or achieving a personal or lifelong learning goal.

“There is no greater joy than celebrating the accomplishments of our students,” said Las Positas College President Dr. Dyrell Foster. “Their journeys are filled with courage and commitment, and at commencement, we will honor their success and limitless potential.”

In addition to honoring graduates, Las Positas College will recognize John Marchand, Mayor of the City of Livermore, as the 2025 recipient of the Friend of the College Award. Presented annually, the award honors individuals or organizations that demonstrate exceptional support for LPC’s mission through partnership-building, student engagement, and efforts that advance the college’s goals. Mayor Marchand’s long-standing dedication to education and his commitment to strengthening the college–community connection have made a lasting impact on LPC and its students.

Both ceremonies will include remarks by Dr. Foster, as well as speeches from student valedictorians Colin Rodriguez at the 10:00 a.m. ceremony and Jacob Keenan at 12:30 p.m.—along with student representatives, faculty, and college officials. Each event will conclude with the ceremonial turning of the tassel, symbolizing the graduates’ transition to LPC alumni.

“As educators, our greatest joy is watching students realize their potential and pursue their dreams,” said Dr. Foster. “We are proud of each and every graduate. Their success reflects not only their individual efforts but also the support of our faculty, staff, families, and the broader community.”
